Last week, THQ Nordic announced their new project, Biomutant. THQ Nordic is well known for creating some fantastic and award winning third person action/adventure games such as Alan Wake and Alan Wake: American Nightmare, Quantum Break, the remasters of Darksiders and Darksiders II and are currently in production of Darksiders III (set to release next year) to name only a few.
Very little has been revealed however the website gives us a glimpse at what we can expect from future reveals. The synopsis promises a third person exploration game where you will master "Wushu combat styles" from progressing through the game and meeting "masters" on your journey. This required the development of a "martial arts style combat system" that "allows you maximum freedom of movement and agility while mixing shooting, melee and powers of your mutations"
From the screenshots it would appear the game is set to take place in a beautiful fantasy world with a splash of some advanced yet rustic industrial influences. This world seems filled with various colourful and deadly flora and fauna and varying landscapes and settings. The player will likely be using technology like mech-suits, jetpacks, gliders, boats and lots of guns as possible methods of transportation and combat.
The main character in many of the screenshots appears to be some sort of bipedal red panda, these characters vary in colour and attire hinting that the game may contain at least a little player customisation and varying equipment that can be acquired.
I'm certainly excited so see how this game develops as more information (hopefully) comes out of their stands at PAX West and Gamescom this year.
